Erin Mahoney never set out to be a farmher. She is a people person, a makeup artist, and overall animal lover. She spent time on a family farm growing up but never pictured herself in the role of a FarmHer. A transitional point in her life, followed by a trip to Florida to tour a farm that raised a very unique breed of horse, the Gypsy Vanner, started a whole new journey for this California city girl. Once she stepped foot on the farm, she found her home and hasn’t looked back.
From day one she jumped in, learning, working and immersing herself in the farm. She helped her partner Dennis built out the agritourism aspect of the operation, opening it up to over 1000 visitors a month. She runs the social media, sharing her photos, videos, and stories from the farm with thousands of viewers throughout each day. Erin plays a significant role in many different parts of the operation from the business and marketing, to daily care and comfort of the animals. She has grown to love the animals and finds peace in the farm. Listening to her talk about the beautiful animals as she led them to their pens or worked steadily to clean and care for them was exhilarating in and of itself.
Our day at Gypsy Gold Farm started with a look inside the room where tours start and where Erin and Dennis educate their visitors not only about the Gypsy Vanner horses but also about the Gypsy culture, where the creatures originated from.
I then followed Erin and she turned some freshly washed horses out to pasture, listening to the rich history connected to each one. She showed me the burial grounds where their beloved creatures go to rest. The farm is a breeding farm, but is a home to the horses, for as long as they live, most of them well past their breeding years.
Erin showed me the macaws, chickens, donkeys, mules and other various animals that live on the farm, rounding out this animal lovers paradise.
Erin changed her life and jumping feet first into living and working on a farm. She formed a fast bond with the unique horses she helps raise and has found a home in agriculture and a connection to the land at Gypsy Gold Farm. She works hard to make the farm a success and her pride and care show in everything she does and says; Erin is the heart and soul of a FarmHer.

I am a retired farmher that lives with my husband in Vt. We had a wonderful family farm here and raised 4 great kids. We’re going to St Augustine for three mo. this winter and will drive over to see you and your wonderful horses. Had my own for 40 years. Miss them all. Erin, you did a very wonderful and professional job. I could put myself right into your shoes. Will look forward to meeting you and the horses this winter; Happy Thanksgiving. See you this winter.

Gypsy Gold is one of my favorite places to visit in Florida. Erin and Dennis make the experience fun, exciting and informative. I’ll go back every chance I get to see these amazingly beautiful creatures. And Erin and Dennis, too, of course. ❤?

Erin is an amazing and strong woman who has found her passion in Dennis and this farm. She is an inspiration for all to follow their dreams and not settle!
I have worked with several of the Vanners on the farm and recently visited. I was so pleased to see the genuine care for these beautiful horses that comes out when both Erin and Dennis talk about them. It’s a lot of hard work but it shows that you both love it…Thank you!!!
Erin is a very special person as is Dennis. The love they have for the horses is indescribable. We have taken many friends, kids and grandkids to learn the history and it never ceases to amaze me. Hugs to them all!
