• Top 7 in 2017

December 28, 2017

FarmHer began in 2013, and each year brings new friends, excitement, and expansion. Our goal today remains the same as it did then, to shine a light on women in agriculture, and below are FarmHer’s top seven ‘Shining Moments’ in 2017.

  1. Season 2 of FarmHer on RFD-TV begins

The award-winning cable television show entered it’s second season, sharing more stories of amazing FarmHer’s around the country. FarmHer Founder and TV Host, Marji Guyler-Alaniz traveled the country, from Maine to California, to uncover the heart and passion of the FarmHer’s she meets.  Tune in to Season Two of FarmHer on RFD-TV every Friday night at 9:30 PM EST with an encore Sundays at 9:30 PM EST.

  1. The first annual ‘I am FarmHer’ National Event was a success

The first ever national FarmHer event for all ages of women was held in Des Moines, Iowa, last June. One hundred and fifty women from 21 states talked, learned and grew together as FarmHers. Complete with great attendees, powerful speakers, and dynamic conversations, we are all looking forward to the next event that will be held in Kansas City, Missouri in June of 2018.

  1. Lexi joins full-time

Lexi Marek started as an intern in 2015 and we never let her leave.  She transitioned from intern to part-time while finishing college and joined the team full-time position in June. Lexi serves as the Communications Manager, making sure that our FarmHer journey is communicated consistently and clearly and hosts the Next Generation segment on the FarmHer TV Show.

  1. FarmHer gets a home

For just over four years, the FarmHer team worked out of our homes with many coffee shop meetings mixed in. With a growing team and expanding brand we moved into a real office in Urbandale, Iowa!  Now the entire team can work together day in and day out to make our FarmHer journey come to life.

  1. The Grow by FarmHer events continue

The Grow by FarmHer events continue to reach young women in agriculture from across the country. This past  fall, the FarmHer team and three amazing speakers hit the road and traveled over 1,200 miles to reach nearly  1,000 attendees at events in three states. And, stay tuned, there is another road trip this February  and more Grow by FarmHer fun to come! Tickets for the February tour through North Carolina, West Virginia and Ohio are now available at www.growbyfarmher.com.

  1. FarmHer launches a podcast, ‘Shining Bright’

FarmHer strives to tell stories of women in agriculture and this past fall we launched a podcast called Shining Bright to share even more of those stories.  The podcast shines a light on ordinary women doing extraordinary things and is available through iTunes and Google Play.  The podcast has been such a hit that we partnered with Rural Radio channel 147 on SiriusXM to bring it to their listeners starting on January 4, 2018.  Tune in every Thursday at 5 PM EST and Saturday at noon EST to Rural Radio 147 on SiriusXM or the SiriusXM app or catch it the following week, released as a podcast.

  1. Another great year spent meeting amazing people in agriculture.

The FarmHer team is so fortunate to spend time within the agriculture industry. The people we meet are hard working, inspiring, and genuine. Thank you for being a part of the FarmHer journey and we hope to see you on the road in 2018!
