Last week, FarmHer joined hands with Stine Seed Company, the Iowa FFA Foundation, and Iowa 4-H Youth Development to declare Thursday, March 21 as “Women in Agriculture Day” in Iowa, a special day to honor the incredible contributions of women in agriculture. We picked this date in particular because it intersects with Women’s History Month and National Agriculture Week, which ran March 17-23, 2024.
It was also the fifth consecutive year we’ve secured an official proclamation from the State of Iowa for the day. This proclamation shines a light on the diverse leadership, support, and decision-making roles of the nearly 52,000 women across Iowa’s 86,000 farms.
“Women in Ag Day is something everyone can celebrate,” said Ann Clinton, communications director for Stine, expressing excitement about the campaign’s growing national momentum.
Women in Agriculture Day started with FarmHer’s spirited social media posts and a special episode on the Stine Seedcast podcast. The day culminated in the traditional Women in Ag Day Reception at the Stine Barn.
“There are no limits to what women can do and have done for agriculture,” says Clinton. “It’s incredibly important to share their stories however we can to encourage future generations to join the agricultural industry. There’s so much to do and so many opportunities to grow.”
FarmHER invites everyone to celebrate Women in Agriculture Day in Iowa by sharing their agricultural stories on social media using the hashtag #TogetHER4Ag.
