What started as a love of gardening grew into something much bigger for FarmHER Dayla Ulrich. Today, she runs Sweet Pea Farm & Orchard in southern Utah, where she brings her community together through fresh food, flower picking, and hands-on farm experiences.
Ulrich’s journey into agriculture began when she returned to school to finish her degree and pursue additional agricultural studies. Along the way, she and her husband purchased property to start a small community farm.
Farming in southern Utah’s high-desert climate comes with challenges, including limited water, drought, and a short growing season. But Ulrich embraces the unpredictability and finds joy in sharing the farm with others.
For her, one of the best parts of the job is seeing families visit, explore the fields, and learn where their food comes from.
“We feel so lucky that we get to do this job, that every week we get to play in the dirt,” Ulrich said.
